Noblesse HR
Static gas source mass spectrometry provides the extremely high sensitivity required for isotopic analysis of noble gases and nitrogen as found in terrestrial rocks, meteorites and other planetary materials returned by spacecraft.

The Noblesse HR has the ability to determine the isotope ratios of the noble gases with accuracy, flexibility and reliability. Noblesse HR can resolve most isobaric interferences to the noble gases, giving more accurate results. In particular, all carbon based interferences to Ar, and the 40Ar++ interference to 20Ne+, may be easily separated. Noblesse HR has a new design of ion source which allows optimisation of either sensitivity or resolving power, without any moving parts. The instrument’s unique, patented, zoom optics allow instantaneous switching between different isotope sets. The zoom optics permit the detectors to be fixed, greatly enhancing reliability. The sensitivity and resolving power are also adjusted without the complexity of a movable source slit.

Application Area
⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar dating
Noblesse is ideally suited for ⁴⁰Ar/³⁹Ar dating, especially for small samples obtained with a UV laser to get high resolution argon profiling. The combination of high sensitivity electron multiplier detection and high-resolution mass spectrometry allows accurate measurement of ultra-low gas abundances by resolving problematic molecular interferences such as C₃⁺.

Application Area
Xe measurement
Xe provide an exceptional insight into planetary history despite it’s extreme rarity due it’s 9 isotopes which are produced by different processes, some are primordial while other are produce by fission of uranium and plutonium. Noblesse delivers outstanding performance for Xe in solid samples by collection of all isotopes in just two steps. Furthermore, both isotopes used typically for normalisation 130 or 132 are measured on both steps, allowing for easier calculation of isotopes ratio.

Noblesse is ideally suited to high spatial resolution 40Ar/39Ar studies, owing to its high sensitivity and resolution of interferences.
Cosmic Ray Exposure Dating
Ne is used for CRE dating but can be challenging due to the number of interferences; Noblesse permits accurate measurements with high sensitivity.
Nuclear Forensics
The high sensitivity of Noblesse has enabled the deduction of the irradiation history of a micron-sized sample of nuclear fuel though analysis of Kr isotopes.
