This application note introduces Chronos, a compact noble gas mass spectrometer based on proven Noblesse technology. It explains the instrument’s high resolving power, low internal volume and capability for He and Ar isotope analysis.
Chronos is designed for laboratories that need a simple, high-performance noble gas mass spectrometer. It uses ion optics, electronics and software developed for Noblesse NG-MS, but in a lower-volume and lower-cost format.
The instrument includes a single Faraday collector and a single ion-counting multiplier. Its high resolving power enables true resolution of ³He from HD and H₃, as well as routine removal of carbon-based interferences at Ar masses.
The note also presents examples of improved Ar accuracy through interference removal and He peak jumping data with dispersion close to counting statistics. This supports Chronos as a strong choice for high-performance noble gas applications.
