This application note demonstrates the linear performance of the Attom detector system across pulse counting, attenuated pulse counting and Faraday detection modes.

ICP-MS laboratories frequently analyse samples that contain both ultra-trace and major elements. Detector systems must therefore maintain linearity across a broad concentration range.


The Attom detector architecture combines multiple detection modes and automatic crossover calibration. A wide concentration range of standards was analysed to evaluate detector performance.


Calibration curves for multiple elements produced excellent linearity, with correlation coefficients exceeding 0.999. The study showed no significant non-linearity at detector crossover points.
