Made by Britain – January 2012

This year, the British Government is actively encouraging awareness of Britain as a centre of manufacturing excellence. To this end, the Associate Parliamentary Manufacturing Group (APMG) has requested each Member of Parliament to select a company that they feel best represents manufacturing innovation within their constituency. We’re delighted to announce that the Member of Parliament for Wrexham, Ian Lucas MP, has selected Nu Instruments. Ian commented as follows on the Made by Britain website:

“This Wrexham designed and manufactured product is world-beating and is being exported to China, the USA, India, and many other countries. Its success has enabled the company to expand, creating more hi-tech jobs in the local economy.”

We’re extremely proud to have been selected by Ian, and pleased to be contributing to the growth and success of the Wrexham area. The nomination page can be viewed using the following link:

Recruitment Drive – January 2012

Due to increased interest in our products within the analytical community, we are keen to recruit four more Test and Installation Engineers. This is a challenging role that involves the factory testing and subsequent on-site installation of our instruments. Engineers with direct experience of analytical instrumentation such as ours are especially welcome, though it is not an absolute prerequisite. If you are enthusiastic and technically competent then we’d love to hear from you (jobs@nu-ins.com). We’ve more than doubled our workforce in the last five years and there is further expansion planned during the coming years.

New Application Notes – December 2011

We’ve recently added a number of application notes to the Nu Instruments website. These documents give a simple overview of the suitability of an instrument for a particular analytical application, usually accompanied by some example data. So far we have added notes to the Attom, Astrum and Horizon product pages. Links to the application notes can be found at the bottom of the relevant product pages. Over the coming months we’ll be adding more of these notes to keep you up to date with the work we’re doing here.

The 100th Nu Plasma! – October 2011

During 2012 we will ship out the 100th Nu Plasma instrument. We think that this is a major milestone for the company and reflects the faith that our users put in us. Most of those 100 instruments are first generation Nu Plasmas or Nu Plasma HRs but of course the 100th will be one of our most recent Nu Plasma II instruments. It’s clear to us that multicollector ICP-MS instruments are as important to Earth scientists and those in the nuclear industry as ever before. We’re sure that there will be many more Nu Plasmas to come.
